I had a very specific technical goal when I started this piece. The raised vine shape was not established with repousse but rather chased in from the front by driving the starting volume into the center while dropping the background down. The time to do this is considerable but the lack of thinning of the metal is significant. The finish work on the surface of the vine is amazing. Per square inch I probably spent more time on this aspect of the piece than any other two parts of it. Any technical goals I had were surpassed.

Aesthetically I love this piece. It fairly shouts out the light of Gold.

Hindsight: This is the piece that showed me the beauty hidden under the shine.
